Ignorance can be a powerful tool for finding opportunities. I know this firsthand, as my ignorance led me to create the first recycled paintbrush.
I was young and naive when I reached out to the president of the world’s largest paintbrush manufacturer with my idea. At the time, I didn’t know it was unlikely to succeed. But as it turns out, my ignorance paid off, and we were able to collaborate and create the first recycled paintbrush.
This paintbrush serves as a constant reminder to think big, share ideas, and be open to opportunities that come my way, even if the probability of success seems low. After all, sometimes, not knowing the odds of success can be freeing. It allows me to take risks and try new things without the fear of failure holding me back.
So the next time you come across an opportunity that seems out of reach, don’t let your lack of knowledge hold you back. Embrace your ignorance and take that shot. As Wayne Gretzky said, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take”.
